Berlin Airports in the World Top 100: Schönefeld distinctly ahead of Frankfurt and Munich
Berlin airports have improved significantly compared to the previous year in the AirHelp Score 2019 global ranking. With 79th place (Schönefeld, +50 places) and 96th place (Tegel, +19 places), both of Berlin’s airports have reached a ranking in the top 100 airports in the world.
In a national comparison, the Berlin airports perform well with higher placements than Frankfurt and Munich. Schönefeld landed in the rankings just behind Hamburg at 4th place, Tegel achieved 7th.
Schönefeld was able to impress particularly when it came to punctuality in 2018: 78% of flights to and from Schönefeld, on average, were on time. As a result, Schönefeld sits in 2nd place in the national comparison, while in the global ranking the airport lands in the upper third.
The AirHelp Score for airports is created by AirHelp, one of the largest worldwide organisations for air passenger rights. In 2019, for the ranking 132 international airports were analysed and included criteria such as punctuality, quality of service and food and shopping facilities in the assessment, each with different weightings.
