Berlin Says Thank You – and is Joined Again by the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin!
On 16 February 2019 more than eighty locations will participate in the Berlin-wide action “Berlin sagt Danke!”. The aim is to say “thank you” to all Berliners who get involved socially, politically or culturally to show their support for a diverse Berlin. They make Berlin a city where people from around the world are welcome and stand by one another.
The Staatliche Museen zu Berlin are taking part in the action day with the project “Multaqa: Museum as Meeting Place”, in which refugees from Syria and Iraq provide German-language tours through two museums. In the course of the tours, the guides present Syrian and Iraqi cultural artefacts to the museum visitors as outstanding testimonials to the history of humankind. The use of dialogical methods makes it possible for visitors to become actively involved and promotes an exchange among tour participants.
