Reference I Project. A 24 hour Festival at the Berlin’s most famous club

Reference I Festival: a new event is coming to Berlin. A festival spanning fashion, design, art, and technology in various forms including performances, installations, discussions, and interdisciplinary collaborations of all sorts, the festival will be held for a 24-hour period at Berlin’s most famous club, Berghain.

Organizers of Berlin 032c Presents: Reference I Festival Reveal a Few More Details

After many vogue events in Berlin city, now Reference Berlin I will be a true stand-alone event, with no crossed scheduling or conflicts of interest. Confirmed participants: Stefano Pilati, Grace Wales Bonner, GmbH, and Richard Gallo archives.

“How do you write in an age of anger? By using text as a weapon to deface the establishment.”

032c is a fashion and art magazine published twice a year.

Grace Wales Bonner, Stefano Pilati and Gmbh first confirmed designers in 24-hour, no-holds-barred interdisciplinary format in Berlin’s Berghain club in late October.

Sitting in a dusty lot on the border of Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain, Berghain is widely considered one of the world’s best nightclubs. It has three dance floors: Berghain, a dark main room where most DJs play techno, Panorama Bar, an upstairs space that’s more focused on house, and the Säule on ground floor, though the music policy in all rooms is very open-ended.

A number of details give Berghain its cult appeal: its residents, which include Steffi, Tama Sumo, Marcel Dettmann and Ben Klock, its set lengths, which range from three hours to more than eight, and its decor, which is mostly metal and poured concrete, with 30 meter ceilings and seemingly endless nooks and crannies.
