Rolex Arts Weekend at the Kulturforum 3–4 February 2018
As part of the 2016–2017 Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative, an international philanthropic programme, on the weekend of 3–4 February, Rolex is presenting the exhibition Poetic Amnesia by visual artist Thao-Nguyen Phan at the Kulturforum.
The exhibition includes drawings, photographs, installations and sculptures inspired by her experiences during her year of mentoring under the legendary performance and video artist Joan Jonas. Also on show will be the world premiere of IMPERIO, a video installation by Argentinian director Matías Umpierrez, which marks the first instalment of The Museum of Fiction, a series of performative installations. In this work, Umpierrez – the protégé of director Robert Lepage – deals with the possibility of affording fiction a space within a museum collection.
Free tickets to selected public events are available online. On Sunday 4 February, the exhibition and the video installation at the Kulturforum are open to the public free of charge from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. You can find more information at artsweekend.rolexmentorprotege.com/.
