Spreepark. An abandoned amusement park in Berlin

The Spreepark in southeastern Berlin has been abandoned for the last years, and it became an interesting obscure attraction of the city. Each part of the park is scattered with remnants of roller coasters, rides, kiosks, small rivers. All abandoned and all are making it a bizarre entertainment that recalls people from all around the world.

An amusement park or a nightmare. Among the various disused structures there are many dangers and, despite a surveillance team operating constantly 24 hours a day, the curious can also enter the abandoned site and, what they do not know is the extent of the problems: the remains of the carousels are sharp and, largely rusty and there are several hidden holes. The soil is contaminated for more than two meters deep from the arsenic. Roller coasters, rides, kiosks, small rivers and a beautiful Ferris wheel, set in almost 30 hectares in the green Treptower Spreeufer.

Originally constructed by the communist government in East Germany in 1969, the park stood until the fall of the Berlin Wall twenty years later. For fourteen years, however, it is no longer active. At least in the objective for which it was built. Amuse. Although, somehow, until last year, for many, it was a subject of fun with many adrenaline adventures for the curious and photographers who ventured into the abandoned site, or tours of the paid park with a train, for families and children. Until the fire, they said and murder, she wrote.

The Spreepark could also be reopened or destined to become a park for important rave parties like Tomorrow Land or the Lollapalooza Berlin. There are still many doubts and many unanswered questions, such as understanding what can be reconstructed, arranged or replaced within the amusement park.
