Viktoriapark is a beautiful and quiet park located in the cosy neighbourhood of Bergmannkiez, the part of Kreuzberg that surrounds the lively and always bustling Bergmannstrasse.
Viktoriapark. A lovely and charming place located in the Bergmannkiez
This park is much appreciated and frequented throughout the year, including the last night of the year where it offers a splendid view of the fireworks that falling over the Berlin city and traditionally used to greet the passage between the old and the new year. We are not talking only about the fireworks of the party that takes place at the Brandenburg Gate but of all the fires that the Berlin people love to blow up in the streets of the whole city!
This park offers many different types of entertainment, we have nature with the highest natural peak of the city, a 66 meter high hill and here, on its top, we also find a piece of history with the Prussian National Monument built in 1821 in memory of battles of the War of Liberation and here we find a splendid 360 degree view of the city made even more impressive and fascinating with the light of the sunset.
At the foot of the monument, it has been created a 24-meter-high artificial waterfall that descends through beautiful natural scenery very scenic between rocks and lush vegetation (the waterfall is frozen during winter due to the very cold temperatures). But this park has yet more to offer, in fact wandering through its winding paths you can come across the slope of the hill, where there is a vineyard from which the Kreuzberg wine is made, a few hundred bottles are produced every year. Also, one of the most famous beer gardens of Berlin is located here, The Golgatha, and a playground for children with lots of fence with goats.
Nature, history, relaxation and an amazing view make this park an excellent leisure destination for locals and tourists! Personally, I love Viktoriapark!
